The Ministry of Finance is hosting a series of seminars and meetings on its Public Financial Management and Performance Monitoring Reform (PFM/PMR) Project, September 18-20, 2017 at the British Colonial Hilton.

Participating in the seminars, under the title “Strengthening the Delivery of Public Services Using a Centre of Government Approach,” will be Parliamentarians, senior public servants and civil society.


The project is mandated with strengthening the management capacity of the public sector to monitor priority projects and programs more efficiently and effectively. Doing so will save significant public resources by reducing waste and increasing value for money in public spending.

The seminar series will be led by Sir Michael Barber, who was Head of the first Delivery Unit developed under the Tony Blair administration of the UK and is currently a leading global advisor on delivery management and centre of government approaches. The seminars will focus on the expected outcomes and benefits associated with the application of delivery management models to facilitate evidence-based results and successful project execution.

Atlantis Paradise Island resort has launched a fundraising campaign on YouCaring. Through this site, the resort will match all donations received dollar for dollar, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to The Bahamas Red Cross and to the Red Cross efforts in Florida, up to $250,000. The fundraising efforts will continue until October 31, 2017.
