The government and Nassau Cruise Port Ltd signed a Heads of Agreement for the redevelopment of Nassau Cruise Port, August 28, 2019, at Festival Place.

Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis said the government is embarking on a “quarter of a billion dollar major project to redevelop what will become the iconic, world-renowned and new Nassau Cruise Port.”

The vertical department team of The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and Aviation (MOTA) recently hosted a group of private pilots, flying ambassadors, fixed based operators (FBO) and aviation media professionals to Freeport, Grand Bahama, on a familiarization trip of the destination.

The group, made up of representatives from Florida Aero Club, Stuart Jet Center, ATA Flight School, Jetscape, Aerospace, Banyan Air Service, Atlantic Aviation and Women in Aviation, departed from the Fort Lauderdale August 15 and returned on August 18, 2019.

Gonet bolsters Middle East expertiseGonet Bank & Trust Ltd, which has been operating in The Bahamas since 1982, has announced that Ahmed El Shahawy joined the Swiss private bank July 15.

El Shahawy will be relocating from Geneva to Nassau.

He has a long and successful career in the private banking industry with impressive credentials in the ultra-high-net-worth segment.

Most recently, he was with Julius Baer in Geneva for over 12 years.

The first Youth Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Hackathon and conference in The Bahamas opened at Windsor School, Frank Watson Highway, Friday, August 23, 2019.

The conference entailed panel discussions and workshops on emerging technologies. The objective of the three-day event was to “educate young adults and children of The Bahamas Islands in blockchain and AI technologies, provide them with support and mentorship, inspire them to create and develop their own projects, as well as provide them with the vision for their future in technology.”
