Minister of Public Works has praised Bahamian companies for providing employment and opportunities for the local workforce while furthering the efforts of The Bahamas to move to green energy.

Minister of Public Works Desmond Bannister applauded the efforts of Bahamas Striping Group of Companies (BSGC) and commended Global Energy Solutions for vision and foresight in providing “viable” and “meaningful” opportunities for young people in skills acquisition, ownership and economic empowerment as the country moves to green energy.

Global Energy Solutions last week signed a Memorandum of Understanding for a clean energy technical partnership with Orlando-based Sybac Solar, an international player in the integration of utility scale solar energy.

The Bahamian company received funding from the Bahamas Striping Group’s investment arm, The Investment Group.

Minister Bannister was the keynote speaker at the recent launch of the formal partnership.

He said the launch represents a “milestone” which can be attributed to the hard work and commitment needed to move a concept from an idea into reality.

The Minister remarked that the conversation about renewable energy sources is a topical one particularly, as it relates to the use of solarization as an alternative source of energy.

The project, he said, is off to a “robust” start and will soon be a showcase of what a modern, energy efficient Bahamas powered by clean renewable energy will look like.

The Organization for Responsible Governance and the University of The Bahamas among others, in association with the Inter-American Development Bank are hosting a Civil Society Conclave at the Atlantis Paradise Island resort 27 February.

The Central Bank of The Bahamas Governor John Rolle gave welcome remarks and a presentation at a seminar held in Nassau earlier this week on the Relaxation of Exchange Controls in The Bahamas and Future Developments.
