Fred Mitchell, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration will lead a delegation to the 33rd Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Governments of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to be held in St. Lucia July 4-6, 2012.
Mitchell will be representing the Prime Minister, Perry Christie.
Minister Mitchell is accompanied by State Minister for Finance Michael Halkitis; State Minister for Legal Affairs, Damian Gomez; and foreign service officers Nicole Archer and Sharmaine Williams.
Representatives are expected to discuss a wide range of topics including the challenges facing the regional economy.
They will also discuss Trinidad and Tobago’s bid to have the Treaty of Chaguaramas revised to allow that country and other member states to access the criminal side of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ), while maintaining the services of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council for civil, commercial and other matters.
The delegation is expected back in the capital July 6, 2012.
