Mitchell in Washington to meet with the OAS

Foreign Affairs Minister Fred Mitchell flew to Washington DC yesterday to attend a series of meetings that will culminate with his address to the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States on Tuesday.

Foreign Affairs Minister Fred Mitchell flew to Washington DC yesterday to attend a series of meetings that will culminate with his address to the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS).

The address, scheduled for December 16, will be live streamed on the OAS’ official website.


The new administrative measures being taken by the government of The Bahamas to strengthen the country’s immigration policy and eliminate fraud are expected to take center stage during these meetings.

The Minister is scheduled to meet with the CARICOM’s OAS Caucus and the Secretary General of OAS, Jose Miguel Insulza December 15 ahead of the Council address.

Mitchell is scheduled to return to Nassau on Wednesday of this week.

Prime Minister Perry Christie addressed the Bahamas Hotel Association's Annual Christmas Luncheon this week in Nassau, saying that the tourism industry will be driven by culture and sports next year. Watch a ZNS Network news report here.

Gaming technology company CG Technology and Baha Mar, the $3.5 billion gaming destination resort in Nassau, have announced an agreement under which CG Technology will provide a complete mobile sports wagering system at the Baha Mar resort. Additionally, CG Technology will provide risk management consulting services to Baha Mar.
