Tourism stakeholders from around the region will gather in Nassau later this month for one of the biggest tourism tradeshows in the region. Organisers of the Caribbean Travel Marketplace, which takes place at the Baha Mar resort from January 21-23, say interest has been strong this year as buyers and suppliers from around the world register to attend.

CEO of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA), which hosts the long-running annual event, Frank Comito said nearly 500 supplier delegates and over 80 buyer companies have registered and added: “Based on the registration pace we are witnessing, we expect to see a continuing surge in delegate numbers over the next several weeks as hotel and destination representatives, tourism providers, wholesalers and tour operators, online travel agencies, and members of the media prepare for the premier Caribbean one-stop travel trade event in the Bahamas.”

Attendees include those from the UK, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Panama, Russia and Mexico.

The CHTA is partnering with Baha Mar, the Bahamas Hotel and Tourism Association, the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and the Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board to organise the two-day conference.

“This is a prime one-stop opportunity for travel trade buyers to ‘shop the Caribbean,’ and for hoteliers to connect with new and longstanding business generators,” said Comito. “The Caribbean has experienced a surge in tourism investments and upgrades in recent years, offering travelers more options and experiences than we’ve ever seen.”

Following its recent acquisition of Bank of The Bahamas’ (BOB) $103 million trust, LENO Trust Ltd has named veteran private wealth and trust professional Dianne Bingham as the firm's new managing director.

The Caribbean region will grow by 1.3 per cent in 2020, according to a recent report from the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).
