The National Symposium on Tax Reform, scheduled to take place at The College of The Bahamas October 25 to October 26, 2012, has been postponed due to the progress of Hurricane Sandy. New dates for the two-day conference will be announced as soon as circumstances permit.

Latest reports are that Hurricane Sandy is expected to impact central Bahamas, including New Providence, by Thursday afternoon through Friday evening.

The National Emergency Management Agency fully activated its National Emergency Operations Centre as of 12 noon October 24, 2012, ahead of the approaching Hurricane Sandy.

Hurricane Sandy made landfall Thursday just west of Santiago de Cuba in southern Cuba, where residents boarded over windows and cleared drainage gutters ahead of the strengthening storm that had roared across Jamaica and left two dead in the Caribbean.
