Sandals wins top travel industry awardSandals Royal Bahamian came up against major international hotels, including W Barcelona, Hotel Arts Barcelona, Atlantis the Palm Dubai and Four Seasons Dubai at Jumeirah Beach, to secure gold at the Meetings & Incentive Travel Industry’s Oscars at a lavish ceremony in London on Friday 2 March.

The award was presented by UK breakfast TV star, Kate Garraway, at the Battersea Evolution.

Karl Thompson, Managing Director at Unique Vacations UK commented:

“We are delighted to receive this award and we are extremely grateful to everyone who took the time to vote for Sandals Resorts to win such a major industry accolade. We have made a big impact in the MICE and group travel sector over the last few years but this will help strengthen our position in this market even more. This is also a result of an aggressive group strategy delivered over the last few years and I am delighted for the UK Group’s team who are as much recipients of this award as the resort.”

The M&IT Industry Awards recognise and reward excellence, and are the result of voting by UK based event organisers and the readers of Meetings & Incentive Travel magazine – with votes audited and verified by the independent Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC). The M&IT Awards are the oldest established awards programme in the meetings industry.

A delegation from The Bahamas participated in the 29th Inter-Sessional Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), which took place February 26-27, 2018 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The Bahamas' delegation engaged in a number of high level and other meetings leading up to the assembly. Watch a video of the meeting here.

The government of The Bahamas has issued a statement regarding the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) blacklisting of the jurisdiction. Read the government's statement in response here.
