A new charter made its inaugural flight from Italy to Freeport, Grand Bahama June 9, 2016.

The Boeing 767-300ER Alpitour flight will provide direct service to the island from Milan until September 1, 2016.


Ministry of Tourism officials and industry partners greeted the 80 passengers on the inaugural trip.

Director of Ministry of Tourism, Freeport, Grand Bahama, Betty Bethel was at hand to welcome the visitors.

In her contribution to the debate on the 2016/2017 Budget, Hope Strachan, Minister of Financial Services, spoke to the important contribution of the sector to the Bahamian economy, noting that it accounts for more than 15 per cent of GDP.

Stuart Bowe, president of the Bahamas Hotel and Tourism Association, is among the five vice presidents elected by The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association at the Hyatt Regency Miami last week to serve for the 2016-2018 biennium.
