A delegation from The Bahamas, including the Governor General’s wife Lady Joan Foulkes, are in China this week to attend Chinese Culture Seminars, which will be held in Beijing and the Nanjing University of Information and Science and Technology (NUIST) from June 16 to 24.
The trip is the result of the joint efforts between the Confucius Institute of College of The Bahamas (COB) and NUIST and aims to further develop communication between people in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas and the People’s Republic of China.
While in China the group will meet President Li Lianshui of NUIST, talk with the scholarship students from the Confucius Institute at COB and experience aspects of Chinese culture.
Among those attending the seminar are secretary to the Governor General, Irene Stubbs; director of libraries, National Library and Information Services, Dorcas Bowler and her husband; and Confucius Institute director of COB, Zhou Youhua, who will function as tour guide.
