Both downtown Nassau and the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island are home to an array of international luxury brands, enabling you to pick up stylish mementos for yourself and lavish presents for friends and family back home. And incase you needed any further persuasion, the shopping in The Bahamas is entirely tax and duty free.

Best known for its waterpark and casino, the Atlantis Resort is also something of a shopping mecca. Whether its window shopping or some serious purchasing you have in mind, the high-end boutiques that can be found dotted throughout Crystal Court in the resort’s Coral Towers offer a relaxing respite from the maelstrom of activity that envelopes the rest of the resort day and night. From watch and jewellery brands to fashion and design houses, there is something for everyone. Here is a run-down of some of the big luxury hitters represented at Atlantis.

Hearts on Fire
Comprising necklaces, rings, earrings and bracelets, the Hearts on Fire jewellery brand claims to have created the world’s most perfectly cut diamond. Solomon’s Mines, the oldest luxury goods retailer in The Bahamas, is the official retailer in The Bahamas for Hearts on Fire and houses several of the brand’s collections within its three Bahamas stores – two of which are located at Atlantis.

Ulysse Nardin
Also found at Solomon’s Mines in The Bahamas is the entire collection of world-renowned Swiss watchmaker Ulysse Nardin. Famous for their beauty and strength, the collection boasts some truly stunning creations, amongst which are enduring favourites such as the Maxi Marine Chronometer in Gold, the Jewel Time Executive in Gold, and the Maxi Diver in Gold.

Lalique
A veritable cathedral of crystal, the Lalique store at Atlantis sells a stunning assortment of crystal design pieces, including jewellery, homeware and perfume bottles. The store at the aptly named Crystal Court is also the official retailer for one of Lalique’s stand-out designs – a crystal shark figurine.

Hublot
After its foundation in the 1980s, Swiss company Hublot rapidly became known as one of the most technologically advanced watchmakers around. Today the company lays claim to being the number one best-selling watch brand in the world. The Hublot store at Atlantis can be found in a corridor of luxury boutiques within the Crystal Court shops, and boasts a glittering array of Hublot timepieces, including its highly popular women’s collection.

Versace
Need a statement handbag to go with that outfit? Then head to the Versace store at Crystal Court in Atlantis, which is home to a vast range of pieces by the iconic Italian design house, including Vanitas handbags made with sheepskin leather. Everything in the store is delivered direct from Milan, Italy.

Chopard
The Chopard boutique at Crystal Court in Atlantis features an extensive selection of fine jewellery, men’s and ladies’ watches, handbags, fragrances, and accessories including sunglasses and writing instruments. Known for its complicated timepieces, Swiss brand Chopard’s collection of watches includes the island-inspired Happy Beach collection, the ladies’ Imperial collection and the men’s Mille Miglia collection.

Gucci
Quality materials, flawless workmanship and avant-garde designs are the keystones behind Gucci’s success. From leather goods, shoes and accessories to timepieces, jewellery, eyewear, fragrances, scarves, ties and giftware, Gucci’s exclusive products are sought around the world. In The Bahamas, Gucci boast two excusive stores, one in downtown Nassau and another at Crystal Court in Atlantis.

The Bahamas is well positioned to tap into the Latin American and US markets, according to Zurich-based financial services provider, Francesco Vanacore, speaking at the Nassau Conference.

Speaking at the 8th annual Nassau Conference yesterday, Minister of Financial Services Ryan Pinder said that he believed that The Bahamas will continue to grow its financial services sector, despite international pressure for multilateral agreements on automatic tax information exchange.
