The Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) and the Bahamas Video Cooperative will present a panel discussion with guest speaker Barry Baeres Tuesday, April 24 at Popop Studios at 6:30pm. The event is free of charge.
After studying law in Munich and working for BIS Mackintosh in London, Baeres founded Intertainment in 1993–a film financing and licensing company with offices in Los Angeles and Munich. From 1998 until 2006, Beares was chairman of the managing board responsible for the operational running of the business.
In 1999, Baeres took the company public with a market capitalization exceeding $1.1 billion.
Intertainment has acquired rights to over 200 motion pictures through licensing and co-financing deals, among them Whole Nine Yards with Bruce Willis, Twisted with Samuel Jackson and Art of War with Wesley Snipes. In the US, the company has entered into exclusive distribution deals with Warner Brothers, Fox and Paramount for theatrical, video and television distribution.
The format of the event next Tuesday will be:
- A one-hour panel discussion;
- Nuts and bolts on the story, cast, budget, pre sales and distribution, packaging;
- Personal anecdotes of the film industry from the financing, producing and distribution perspective;
- Question and answer session.
