Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis will travel to St. Kitts today to attend the 30th Inter-Sessional Meeting of the Conference of the Heads of Government Meeting of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
The Prime Minister will lead a delegation of senior government officials to the two-day meeting, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Darren Henfield and High Commissioner of The Bahamas to CARICOM Reuben Rahming.
Caribbean leaders will discuss a range of regional matters, including transportation, safety and security, and issues related to financial services.
Prime Minister Minnis will attend day one of the inter-sessional meeting February 26, 2019.
The Prime Minister will also take part in a bilateral meeting with the president of the Republic of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid.
Minister Henfield will represent Prime Minister Minnis on day two of the inter-sessional meeting, along with High Commissioner Rahming and other senior government officials.
On February 27, 2019, the Prime Minister will travel to New York to receive the 2019 Legacy Award from the American Foundation for The University of the West Indies.
Prime Minister Minnis is one of four Heads of Government being honoured for professional achievement at the American Foundation for The University of the West Indies’ 22nd Annual Legacy Awards Gala on Wednesday evening.
Other Heads of Government honourees are Sharlene Cartwright-Robinson, Premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands; Dr Timothy Harris, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis; and Dr Orlando Smith, Premier of the British Virgin Islands.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Peter Turnquest will act as Prime Minister in the Prime Minister’s absence.
