10th anniversary edition of The Bahamas Investor hits the streets!
Etienne Dupuch Jr Publications Ltd is pleased to announce the publication of the 10th anniversary issue of The Bahamas Investor.
First launched in January 2006, the glossy magazine was devised to be an invaluable tool in promoting the jurisdiction as a place in which to live, work and invest. Since then, the magazine has covered all the major events in the business and financial realms in the jurisdiction, while also providing vital information and timely updates for anyone looking to make The Bahamas their home.
This 10th anniversary issue celebrates a decade promoting The Bahamas as a place to invest by featuring four leading industry players and asking them to give their thoughts on the current investment climate and the state of the financial services industry in jurisdiction.
At the forefront of developments in the industry over the last ten years has been the Bahamas Financial Services Board (BFSB) – a membership body charged with promoting the financial services sector and advising the government on industry trends and policy. Through its Landfall Bahamas programme, the BFSB has helped cultivate an open dialogue with a number of international jurisdictions, particularly in Latin America and Asia.
In her contribution to the issue, former chief executive officer and managing director of the BFSB, says: “We remain hopeful and confident about the resilience and sustainability of the financial services industry. This optimism is well founded when you consider the many concerted and coordinated initiatives that BFSB and government, regulatory and industry partners have undertaken to keep The Bahamas a vibrant, formidable financial centre.”
Another key component of the sector’s promotional machinery is the Ministry for Financial Services, which regularly carries The Bahamas Investor magazine with it when it attends international conferences and holds meetings and events overseas. “This is an extremely important sector of our economy. It is a dynamic, vibrant industry that requires a lot of attention. In financial services, as in law, you are required to make decisions quickly and with a great degree of responsibility because in both disciplines there are significant financial and reputational consequences,” says the current Minister of Financial Services, Hope Strachan, who is featured on the cover of this issue. “I see it as a huge responsibility, but I am also very confident and cognizant of the fact that if you have the right resources, you can make a success of your ministry.”
It has been ten years of change and advancement in the sector, marked by increased regulation and global compliance initiatives. It has also been a decade of resilience and invention, as The Bahamas continues to create new and innovative products to remain competitive in what has become the “new norm” for financial services.
The Bahamas Investor looks forward to another ten years as a valuable tool in the country’s efforts to promote itself for investment and consolidate its position as a leading international financial centre in the region.
