Building on the foundation set by previous events, the eleventh Nassau Conference is scheduled for September 21, 2016 at the Meliá Nassau Beach Resort under the theme Strengthening Our Competitiveness.
New this year, The Nassau Conference extends its footprint to a second day, with a Financial Services Bootcamp scheduled for September 20, 2016 also at the Meliá.
Minister of Financial Services Hope Strachan will once again deliver opening remarks at the conference and provide attendees with a policy perspective on recent global and local industry and regulatory developments.
Presentations and discussions of the morning sessions will emphasize an external view led by international financial services experts.
Other key sessions at the conference include a two-part session titled Latin America in Focus and a panel discussion on Perspectives on Financial Services in Bermuda and Cayman.
Tanya McCartney, CEO and executive director of the Bahamas Financial Services Board (BFSB) will kick off the afternoon with a focus on the Bahamas Value Proposition and will then participate in a panel discussion on CRS, along with Michael Halkitis, Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance and Brian Moree, senior partner with McKinney, Bancroft & Hughes.
Scheduled for the day before The Nassau Conference, the Financial Services – the Fundamentals bootcamp is a half-day practical workshop for individuals working in financial services who require a fundamental understanding of the products and services offered in our market, as well as an introduction to the sector for persons considering a career in financial services including college students.
The Financial Services Bootcamp is a strategic collaboration between AIBT, BFSB and the Bahamas Institute of Financial Services.
