The board of directors of The Bahamas Central Securities Depository (BCSD) announced at the end of last month the appointment of Nerika Burrows as its president.
Burrows is a Certified Public Accountant with more than 22 years of experience in public accounting, offshore insurance, bank & trust accounting, as well as operations & telecommunication finance and international business.
In a press release announcing the appointment, the board said it was delighted to appoint Burrows at an important time for BCSD.
“We are certain that Nerika’s leadership qualities combined with her strategic thinking and relevant experience make her the right person to drive the company to success over the coming years.”
Commenting on her appointment Burrows said: “I am honoured to have been chosen by the board to take this role and excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. With the assistance of the experienced team at BCSD we can execute the next phase of the transformation of the company by offering to our client companies, their shareholders and other financial stakeholders a better view of our capital market through new technology and new services.”
The BCSD provides share registry and transfer agency services in The Bahamas and will soon offer Bahamas International Stock Exchange (BISX)-listed issuers an opportunity to integrate trading and settlement of trades as the technology platform utilized by BCSD will be directly connected to BISX’s trading system.
BCSD assists client companies by managing relationships with their shareholders and other financial stakeholders. This is accomplished through the management and dissemination of corporate information to shareholders, and maintenance of company shareholders’ registers. BCSD also effects corporate actions on behalf of clients including: dividend payments, mailing of annual general meeting materials and other services for companies’ annual general meetings.
BCSD is registered with The Securities Commission of The Bahamas as a Clearing Facility under the Securities Industry Act.
