Andbank (Bahamas) Ltd has announced a new executive team in its local office.

Manel Martinez has been appointed chief executive officer at the bank and steps into the new role after more than two decades with the global financial institution.

“I am delighted to take up this new role as I have fully enjoyed the career that I’ve been able to have here in The Bahamas,” says Martinez, who has worked in the Nassau office since 2006.

“I look forward to further developing our business in this jurisdiction because of the great opportunities available here.”

“Andbank remains committed to The Bahamas; the local subsidiary was the first to be established outside its Andorran headquarters. Our priority is to expand our operations here because this country has one of the most developed financial services offerings in the Caribbean, with excellent infrastructure as well as talented and skilled professionals.”

“I think this is a strategic business location and bodes well for the bank’s vision of continued expansion, both local and international,” says Martin. “The role we share as private banking heads is a pretty good combination and we look forward to the future growth of the Nassau office as we target Latin America, and new market such as Asia.”

The Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs has released a statement expressing the government's disappointment at the implementation of a redundancy programme affecting approximately 2,000 Baha Mar employees.

Cornèr Bank (Overseas) Ltd and the Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) will team up to launch the 2015 Bahamas International Film Festival mobile app.
