Sir Arthur Foulkes will demote office as Governor General July 8, after more than four years in the position.

Governor General Sir Arthur Foulkes will demote office July 8, 2014, and a new Governor General will be sworn in at 12 noon the same day.

Sir Arthur and Lady Foulkes will travel to London this week to pay a farewell visit to Queen Elizabeth II.

Sir Arthur, who celebrated his 86th birthday on May 11, assumed office April 14, 2010.
