Port Canaveral welcomes Enchantment of the Seas

The Canaveral Port Authority hosted about 100 community leaders aboard Royal Caribbean’s Enchantment of the Seas for the traditional Plaque and Key Ceremony May 1 to welcome the ship to its new homeport at Port Canaveral. The cruise liner's itinerary will include cruises to Coco Cay and Nassau.

PORT CANAVERAL, Florida – The Canaveral Port Authority hosted about 100 community leaders aboard Royal Caribbean’s Enchantment of the Seas for the traditional Plaque and Key Ceremony on yesterday to welcome the ship to its new homeport at Port Canaveral.


“Port Canaveral has been a great partner for a very long time and we are thrilled that Enchantment of the Seas will complement Freedom of the Seas to offer vacationers convenient year-round options from Florida’s Space Coast,” said Adam Goldstein, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International.

Enchantment of the Seas is based at Cruise Terminal 10 and replaces the Monarch of the Seas, which is now assigned to Pullmantur Cruises, which is headquartered in Spain.

Enchantment is a 80,700 ton Vision-class cruise ship that is 990 feet long with a beam of 106 feet. The ship features 11 decks, can travel at 22 knots (25 mph) and accomodate 2,446 passengers.

RECENTLY REFURBISHED
She cruises in the Caribbean year round sailing out of Port Canaveral on two cruises weekly: a 4-night cruise to Coco Cay and Nassau, Bahamas with a day at sea; and a 3-night weekend to Nassau, Bahamas and Coco Cay.

Last December, the Enchantment went into drydock in Freeport, Bahamas and received new features including the Park Cafè, a poolside movie screen, flatpanel TV’s, upgraded phone system, ship-wide WiFi technology and other enhancements.
