Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham is set to lead an investment and trade mission to Canada at the end of the month.

The two-day mission will visit Calgary on March 28 and Toronto on March 30. The Prime Minister is expected to make luncheon presentations on both days.

To coincide with the mission, the Bahamas Financial Services Board (BFSB) will host a business seminar under the theme “Bahamas Landfall: Destination Canada. Rediscovering The Bahamas.”

The seminar presentation will update the Canadian business community on the full range of international business and finance opportunities and services available in The Bahamas. The seminars will precede the luncheons and will be an hour and a half long.

The format of the Bahamas Landfall: Destination Canada event will be similar to the successful Bahamas Landfall event, which was held in Brazil in November 2010.

Following the groundbreaking of Baha Mar last month, now the real work begins on the multi-billion dollar Cable Beach development. The Bahamian project developers are looking to their foreign partners to deliver on time, to budget and to the required standards.

Chief executive officer of Butler's Food World, Jeffrey Butler, says that Grand Bahama is too reliant on cruise ship passengers and the island should look to exploiting the business travel market. He says partnerships within the sector should be nurtured.
