Freeport firm lands Buckeye US contract

Buckeye Partners (NYSE: BPL), operators of the Bahamas Oil Refining Company (BORCO) on Grand Bahama, has contracted local firm Quality Services Ltd to construct two large manifolds for one of its plants in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, in the US.


Management from Quality Services and BORCO met with the Minister for Grand Bahama Michael Darville, March 8, to discuss the multi-million dollar deal.

Quality Services has carried out a number refurbishments to BORCO facility over the years.

This is the first time that a local firm has been given the opportunity to assist in modernizing a US-based facility.

Quoting from an article published in the latest issue of The Bahamas Investor, State Minister for Investments Khaalis Rolle said in Parliament last week that the nation must diversify its economy, while continuing to pursue the strategy of attracting foreign direct investment to realize its potential.

A match between Jamaica’s national football team and England’s Tottenham Hotspur is set to take place May 23 in Nassau as part of the celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the country's independence.
