TAMPA, Fla., May 15, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Syniverse today announced a multi-year contract that makes it the preferred roaming, messaging, network and real-time intelligence solutions provider for The Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC). The numerous new service additions — many of which are significant competitive takeaways for Syniverse — and renewal of existing services will strengthen BTC’s quality of service, enhance operational efficiencies and speed problem resolution to improve quality of experience for both BTC’s subscribers and the millions of inbound roamers who visit the Bahamas each year.

“At BTC, we are constantly exploring new ways to enhance the mobile experience for our end users rather than managing the endless complexities that arise from having a multitude of vendor relationships,” said Geoff Houston, Chief Executive Officer, BTC. “Syniverse brings the best of both worlds — providing the in-region expertise and solutions to optimize the experience of our subscribers and inbound roamers while also serving as a preferred provider for so many of our mobile support needs, allowing us to remain focused on our top priority: our customers.”

In addition to many of Syniverse’s cornerstone roaming and messaging services, including data and financial clearing, signaling, and SMS and MMS interoperability, BTC will adopt a number of the company’s advanced real-time intelligence and next-generation network capabilities.

Using a suite of real-time intelligence solutions from Syniverse, BTC will be able to proactively identify and solve problems such as network outages before the user experience is impacted via VisProactive, a service that reveals a 360-degree view of the mobile subscriber’s roaming experience. The operator also will utilize RoamMonitor to deliver real-time alerting and rating capabilities that alert subscribers as they use data services at home and while roaming and reduce the amount of uncollectable data roaming bills for BTC.

These multiple services will be provided over a single connection to the Syniverse IP Packet eXchange (IPX) network, a robust backbone that provides enhanced capabilities and efficiency today while paving the way for a seamless move to LTE/4G and beyond.

“BTC is taking full advantage of Syniverse’s breadth of solutions to meet and anticipate customer demands today and well into the future while also realizing the efficiencies of a single source for advanced mobile solutions,” said Pablo Mlikota, Senior Vice President, Caribbean and Latin America, Syniverse. “We are pleased to expand our relationship with this forward-looking operator, building upon our long history of serving operators in the Caribbean and throughout Latin America. As a result, we now make mobile work for 95 percent of mobile subscribers in the region.”
