Odyssey Aviation Bahamas began offering handling services on November 14, 2011, at two new Bahamian locations–Governor’s Harbour Airport and Rock Sound Airport–both in Eleuthera.

Odyssey’s expansion of handling services on the island of Eleuthera coincides with the increased volume of traffic during the vacation season.

In his first official interview with the Bahamian media on Monday, Scotiabank (Bahamas) Ltd Kevin Teslyk talked about the bank’s vision for the future and its strategy in the current economic environment.

“We’ve got a very strong trust operation here in The Bahamas. That is a global operation,”?said Teslyk, who arrived in the jurisdiction in June.

Kevin TeslykScotiabank (Bahamas) Ltd will be opening a new $1-million branch next year, its new managing director, Canadian Kevin Teslyk (pictured), announced Monday.

The new Carmichael location will be the bank’s 23rd branch nation-wide. It is expected to have a staff complement of 10. Presently, the financial institution employs 700-plus workers across The Bahamas and has 57 ATMs.

“Carmichael is one of the fastest growing, if not the fastest growing residential community in The Bahamas,”?said Teslyk.

Cruise enthusiasts say “it’s better in the Bahamas” and the Caribbean for that matter.

It doesn’t seem to matter how many times they’ve been there, done that, many people can’t resist returning to the stunningly blue clear waters and wasting away on those white sand beaches.

The allures are many: Swimming with the dolphins and parasailing; endless duty-free shopping in St. Thomas and Nassau; and the “nude” beaches of French St. Martin and the less-brash Dutch half of the island, St. Maarten.

A leading real estate agent has praised the government’s newly introduced fast track residency system, predicting that it will boost the real estate market and make The Bahamas a more attractive destination for foreign investors.

Under the new “accelerated consideration” policy, which was announced by Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham in April 2011, the government committed to reviewing economic permanent residence applications from those buying property worth at least $1.5 million within 21 days of receipt of the application.

BAIC logoMIAMI, Fla. – The Bahamas Agricultural and Industrial Corporation (BAIC) has been seeking out opportunities for Bahamians in food processing and horticulture through important contacts in Florida.

Executive chairman Edison Key described as “very fruitful” a four-day fact-finding mission he and BAIC heads of department undertook to South Florida last month.

The Bahamas Oil Refining Company International Ltd (BORCO) announced at the end of last week that there has been some re-organization to its structure, reports The Freeport News. The operator of the oil storage and refining facility remains committed to expansion plans and foresees continued growth, according to a press release.

Dec. 4/11 (By Yasmin Popescu) – In a press statement late Friday afternoon, management of the Bahamas Oil Refining Company International Limited (BORCO) announced some re-organization to its structure.

Management said that this was done to meet the needs of the changing market the company has found itself in.

This process evaluated each level of the organization and affected various positions and employees, the statement read, adding that the affected employees received retirement and severance packages in accordance with the Labor Laws of the Bahamas and company policy.
