The formal launch of The Bahamas Business and Investment Conference Tuesday signaled the beginning of branding The Bahamas as a destination for foreign direct investment. The conference is sponsored by the Grand Bahama Port Authority, the Commonwealth Business Council, the Bahamas government and members of the business community, and is set for February 2013. Speaking at the event was Minister of State for Investments Khaalis Rolle (pictured).

“The Bahamas is one of those destinations that have so many unique features and Grand Bahama is one that we wanted to highlight with this conference,” he [Khaalis Rolle] said, citing the island’s strategic advantage in shipping and logistics.

Passage of the Marriage Act means that for cruise lines registered in The Bahamas, such as Royal Caribbean, marriages that take place during their voyages can now be recognized by the island nation and recorded in the Bahamas' Marriage Record book.
